Background

Donald Ray Sanford was brutally tortured and murdered by Bradley Wynn McClour, TDCJ # 00877527 along with an accomplice on August 23rd, 1998. They took Donald to a field with 10 feet growth on about 10 acres. It was dark during the first attack, severely stomped and beat him, took his check book, money, jewelry, his vehicle and left him. They were spotted joyriding by someone and told that person, that a friend loaned them this new vehicle. Donald was still alive, but unable to find his way out, crawling around. When McClour and his accomplice came back, they had to look for him, attacking him again, more brutal stomping and beating. The boot print of the attacker was imprinted on his body that the investigators first thought he got run over. The stomping caused many broken ribs, some multiple fractured. Then one produced a dull pocket knife, pulling Donald's head back by his hair and cutting his throat, while Donald was still conscious and pleading for his life (murderer's own statement). However, the knife was too dull, so they start cutting his wrists. One wrist was cut down to the muscle. Once again, they left joyriding in Donald's vehicle, only to come back for the "3rd time". This time they wrapped Donald in some plastic, loaded him in the back of his own vehicle, drove down the road to the only body of water that was only 40 inches deep. The killers stated that they dumped him from the road over the railing, at this time Donald was still alive, it was stated by a 3rd party that Donald was held under water until he quit bubbling. The pair left, hid the vehicle in some brush and got cleaned up. One went to Wal Mart to buy a skateboard with the stolen money, the other invited friends to eat a What A Burger. The next day they went to the lake having a good time. They displayed NO conscience, NO feelings, COLDBLOODED MURDERERS. It is unimaginable the torture Donald had to endure, physically and mentally. Donald was a hard-working resident of Lamar County. He was a loving husband and father, son, brother, brother in law, uncle, nephew and friend. He so enjoyed discussions that he had with his son about the solar system, they competed with each other playing chess, basketball in the driveway, enjoyed music and fishing. Donald's death, the way his life was so brutally and gruesome cut short by two heartless killers, changed his entire family and friends. The murderers refused Donald the right to live and imposed their own death sentence upon him.
